Vehicle Maintenance Assistant

Fleet Maintenance - Technical Keeps equipment available for use by Developing and maintaining a list of all regular replacement parts and ensure that appropriate quantities are stocked and available for use. Regular inspection and testing of vehicles and minor parts changes. Executing scheduled preventive maintenance (engine tune-ups, oil changes etc. in line with the vehicle manual). Conducting tyre inspections, rotations, balancing, changes tyres. Conducting electronic diagnosis on-site and provide accurate assessment reports to guide approval of major repair works Verify suitability of parts used by contract vendor in effecting repairs. Test drive vehicles after repairs are complete to ensure mechanical soundness and to determine whether any other problems exist. Fleet Maintenance - Administrative Challenge cost estimates put forward by Repair garages and ensuring that the company receives value for money. Maintain detailed database of service and repairs conducted on each vehicle and associated cost. Ensure daily vehicle checks are conducted and documentation disseminated and stored appropriately. Ensure all issues noted on the checklist are flagged and attended to accordingly. Trains fleet drivers on the use of vehicle functions when new vehicles are purchased. Conducts road test for new drivers when they are recruited and give feedback about their performance. Serves as a link between vehicle maintenance garages and the company by championing all vehicle maintenance issues. Skills Ability to troubleshoot minor and major faults using vehicle diagnostic tools. Ability to perform general servicing of vehicles including oil and filter changes, etc. Understand the working principle of diesel/petrol engine to be able to identify deviations or error. Ability to carry out alignment checks, cylinder pressure / vacuum test. Use and interpret vehicle service, troubleshooting and maintenance manuals. Have basic knowledge of vehicle electrical and electronic system. Understand vehicle air conditioning system and their maintenance requirements. Working Experience and Educational/Academic Background Ordinary National Diploma in mechanical/automotive engineering. Professional automobile repair Certificate or trade test in Mechanical/automotive Engineering. Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Fleet Maintenance.
