The Role Responsibilities

Supply Chain Management is responsible for the overall commercial management of how the bank engages and spends money with its external third-party/suppliers. To meet increasing business and efficiency, the SCM Nigeria Team is looking for a candidate with strong leadership experience in technology and property procurement and the gravitas to engage stakeholders to support key priorities: creating strategic options in banking, focused on client and business problem statements, and experimenting with the way we work. The successful candidate will be responsible for influencing and executing sourcing activities in collaboration with related support teams:

  • Manage the relationships within Technology and Property stakeholders to shape their vendor strategy in specific for Network
  • Reviews the relevant bank expense line that aligns to sourcing categories in order to understand the nature of such expenditure with the objective of optimisation and cost reduction through Supply, Demand, Governance or spend compliance actions.
  • Ensures that business sourcing strategies are developed in conjunction with the requirement from Technology and Property teams and use them to drive greater commercial benefit for the firm.
  • Lead the execution of end to end Strategic Sourcing initiatives that will deliver sourcing solutions that meet the needs of our bank wide stakeholders by balancing cost efficiency and innovation requirements whilst adhering to policies & standards.
  • Manages supplier risk to establish a stable supply chain that allows the bank to provide uninterrupted services to its stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical conduct, ensuring that Fraud and ABC risk are mitigated in all sourcing events.
  • Strategy

  • Understand business and functional strategies to enable SCM business alignment on relevant procurement strategies are developed to support those needs.
  • Create a sourcing strategy that includes cost reduction (including needs assessment, demand management etc.), innovation, risk mitigation and sustainability components.
  • Explore and leverage strategic supplier partnerships opportunities to further the use of preferred suppliers.
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Technology and Property categories in Nigeria (including Categories dealing with products/services like Technology, Property/ Real Estate, Travel, Professional Services, HR, Marketing, Office Supplies, Banking Operations).
  • Establish and manage effective supplier relationships to maximise leverage of supplier value.
  • Adhere to and execute the procurement process to implement the strategy.
  • Work with and support Category / Commodity Managers on global and/or regional initiatives within their remit
  • Provide supplier market intelligence the business and Global Category Managers, as applicable, to enable informed strategy and contract award decisions

  • Drive sourcing initiatives to achieve stakeholders’ objectives
  • Achieve reductions in 3rd party spend and deliver value improvements on country basis
  • Work with business stakeholders and Global Category Managers to define business needs of 3rd party products & services
  • Reporting and tracking of initiatives
  • Agreed sourcing objectives are achieved with value improvements
  • Effective working relationship developed with stakeholders
  • End to end procurement services delivered to business stakeholders in line with expectation
  • Vendor portfolios are effectively managed
  • Perform supplier/spend categorization and analysis to enable meaningful MIS reporting
  • Carry out effective negotiations and contracting which contribute to sustainable commercial advantages for the business and best in class commercial terms
  • Processes

  • Provide end-to-end procurement services in line with policy and process
  • Manage the procurement process from strategy execution through to supplier management to effectively manage the three core elements of cost, service & risk
  • Ensure suppliers are enabled and driving transactions through e-procurement solution
  • Risk Management

  • Contracts comply with SCB Group Legal and Compliance and Risk guidelines on a timely basis
  • Provide support in supplier risk mitigation programs within SCM
  • Support local stakeholders about the risks associated with their agreements and the risk management requirements embedded within the Source to Pay process.
  • Procurement policies, processes and regulatory guidelines are complied with and standard tools & templates are duly utilised
  • Governance

  • Support the governance of non-compliance with TPRM processes by country stakeholders
  • Provide support to stakeholders across the business functions in country in support of procurement, vendor management, outsourcing and contract management and other SCM related queries.

  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
  • Key Stakeholders

  • Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships across multiple business and support functions, the wider SCM teams (comprising of Global Category Managers, Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) Governance team, SCM COE) and Risk Groups, such as Legal.
  • Our Ideal Candidate

  • 3+ Years of experience in strategic sourcing preferably from financial sector
  • Experience in procurement with strong negotiation skills in various categories
  • Sound commercial and contract management skills
  • Good communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to work in a stressful commercial environment to tight schedules
  • Ability to handle uncertainty
  • Delivery focus with some project management skills
  • Good analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task with tight lead times
  • Experience in sourcing, operations and supply chain best practices as an individual contributor
  • Systems: SAP Ariba Source to Contract & Risk is advantageous
  • Able to use ERP systems such as SAP, Ariba and Microsoft Office Excel..
  • Good working knowledge of contracts & familiar with legal agreements
  • Advanced commercial knowledge in technology procurement and project management.
  • Advanced business management skills including stakeholder management, commercial judgment and process improvement.
